Mariama is a very experienced digital strategist and experiential producer with a deep passion for community building. She has successfully built many digital platforms and communities using her skills in marketing, social media strategy, and event planning. She has planned, produced and marketed digital and IRL activations with notable figures, personalties and brands like Hillary Clinton, Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, Smartwater and Pantene.
Mariama graduated from the University of Virginia in 2018 with a B.A in African and African-American Studies and Foreign Affairs. After graduating, she was selected to participate in the Downtown Brooklyn Arts Fellowship, where she worked between two art organizations for six months: Theatre for a New Audience and Contemporary African Diasporan Arts. At both of these organizations, Mariama led outreach and programming efforts to increase BIPOC representation in the theater community, and created strategies to increase social media following and engagement at the museum.
Later that year, after observing the disparities that existed in white and Black creative spaces, Mariama founded Jalloh Studios, an enriching space where Black women could have access to resources, and opportunities needed to build thriving creative careers and lives. As the founder of Jalloh Studios, she continues to showcase her passion for community by cultivating impactful programming and shared spaces for Black women creatives.
